Have you ever wanted to learn the ever-timeless art of knitting ? Learn how to start your first knitting project with artist Splitter Splatter !

This beginner course is dedicated to introducing and learning all of the fundamentals of hand-knitting. Guided by Dutch performance & visual artist, Iekeliene Stange (Splitter Splatter), this introductory workshop is intended for true beginners who are curious to finally learn the ins & outs of knitting.

In this not-to-be-missed workshop, we will primarily focus on the very basics and learn the following:

- How to cast on stitches

- How to knit: Knit stitch and Purl stitch

- Combining Knit stitch and Purl stitch into patterns

- Adding stitches

- Binding off

All refreshments & materials will be provided including wool & knitting needles.

Iekeliene also has a second follow-up workshop called Beginner Knitting Workshop 102, where you can learn even more knitting stitches.

All students have the opportunity to book two workshops as a bundle for an additional 10% discount.

About:

Splitter Splatter (aka Iekeliene Stange) is a visual artist who lives and works between Amsterdam and the Veluwe. She creates costumes, music, videos, set design and sculptures to build her surrealist worlds.

Inspired by nature, she works with symbols, surrealistic shapes, and totems that refer to the subconscious and absurdism.

Iekeliene is also the founder of her audio-visual, Dada-like band Splitter Splatter, which has been performing in and around Amsterdam for several years. A mix between performance art & surrealist pop, the performance art group focuses on making a detailed, hand-crafted worlds, seamlessly combining set design, costumes, programmed lighting, and music.

All costumes for Splitter Splatter's performances are hand-knit by Iekeliene herself using a mix of traditional french & hand knitting techniques and knitting mills.
